Astec's roots go back to 1988, when the company was founded by Bob Salem and Jim Arlington after the two had worked together at Benchmark Chemical. Bob brought extensive chemistry and product-development experience to the new company and went on to formulate the majority of Astec's products.
Astec's first major product was RCHD — Refinery Cleaner Heavy Duty, later known as Real Citrus Heavy Duty. From the beginning, Astec focused on developing specialty products to solve practical cleaning and maintenance problems for its customers.
Over the years, Astec products have been used in demanding industrial environments where cleaning, buildup, equipment maintenance and downtime are everyday concerns.

Today, Astec continues to manufacture and supply specialty products for industrial cleaning and equipment maintenance. Products such as HiSol® and Excel Clean HD, along with Astec's broader product line, give customers options for different applications, performance requirements and budgets.
While ownership has changed through the years, the company's focus remains practical: develop products for real-world applications, provide clear product information, and offer knowledgeable personal service.
